LEV Engineering have just completed a welding fume extraction system, removing weld fume from four welding cells and four robot canopies. The system comprises of a centrifugal fan unit sited outside the building on a purpose made concrete plinth. 900 diameter spirally wound ductwork has been run into the building and branch ducts installed to each welding cell and each canopy. The branch ducts have motorised dampers in so when the robots or cells stop welding, the ductwork damper closes and the fan that is connected to a duct sensor and inverter will ramp down. This saves energy and the client is happy. The work was carried out during the clients August shutdown to minimise disruption and ensure a smooth installation programme.
